Gate is a large global exchange with a long coin list, and it is one of the few that has set up shop in The Bahamas. Gate Global Limited is registered with the Securities Commission and runs a Bahamas-specific site at gate.com/en-bs, which says Gate Bahamas is “authorized and regulated” by the SCB. That is a stronger local link than most platforms offer, but the paperwork has a wrinkle worth knowing about.

Can Bahamas residents sign up?

The Bahamas user agreement, published 6 March 2026, names Gate Global Limited trading as Gate Bahamas, applies Bahamian law and sends disputes to arbitration in The Bahamas. So far, so local. But its eligibility clause says individual users must be residents of the United States or its territories, and non-arbitrable matters go to courts in Laramie County, Wyoming. That looks like wording carried over from another Gate agreement, but we cannot assume it.

Spot, margin and futures

The Bahamas site offers spot trading, isolated margin and futures, with “hundreds of contracts” settled in USDT or BTC. Spot means buying the coin itself. Margin and futures let you trade with borrowed money (leverage), so a small price move can wipe out your stake through automatic liquidation. The Bahamas home page we read showed no risk warning beside these products. Beginners should stay with spot and move long-term coins to a personal Wallet An app or device that holds the keys to your crypto. The coins themselves live on the blockchain. Funding and P2P

The Bahamas page does not mention card purchases or bank deposits. Gate’s global P2P (peer-to-peer) Buying crypto directly from another person, with a platform holding the seller’s coins in escrow until payment arrives. Glossary marketplace lists USD as the payment currency for USDT and BTC and advertises zero P2P fees; BSD is not listed, and we could not confirm P2P access for Bahamas accounts. Crypto deposits are the dependable route; our Bahamian banks guide covers the bank side. For a card purchase, see our card guide; for converting back to Bahamian dollars, our cash-out guide.
