Ask around Nassau how to get crypto with cash and someone will mention SunCash. That makes sense: it is a familiar Bahamian name, it runs store locations where you can load cash, and its legal entity appears on the Securities Commission’s digital asset register. But a registration is not the same as a crypto service. As of 22 October 2026, SunCash does not advertise any way to buy, sell or hold Bitcoin.

What SunCash actually does
SunCash is a mobile money and payments company. Its website lists six everyday services: sending money worldwide through the app, with pick-up at its store locations; paying bills from the app; prepaid mobile top-ups at home and abroad; loading cash with a debit or credit card or at a SunCash store; donations to charities; and the SunCash Wallet for checking balances. Merchants can accept payments through “SunCash Mobile Money”. The site doesn’t publish fee amounts or a list of store addresses.
SunCash is also one of the Central Bank’s AFI Authorised Financial Institution: a company the Central Bank approves to offer Sand Dollar wallets, such as SunCash, Island Pay or Kanoo. Glossary for Sand Dollar The Central Bank’s digital version of the Bahamian dollar, launched in October 2020. It is not a cryptocurrency and cannot be swapped for crypto directly. Glossary, the digital Bahamian dollar. Sand Dollar wallets have two individual tiers: Tier I holds up to B$500 and moves B$1,500 a month with no ID, while Tier II holds up to B$8,000, moves B$10,000 a month, requires government ID and can be linked to a bank account. Sand Dollar is not a cryptocurrency, and it only works inside The Bahamas.
The SCB registration: custody, nothing more
Sun Island Transfers Ltd. is on the Securities Commission’s register of digital asset businesses under the DARE Act The Digital Assets and Registered Exchanges Act 2024, the Bahamian law that requires crypto businesses operating in or from The Bahamas to register with the Securities Commission. Glossary 2024. Its registered activity is a single one: custody of digital assets. It is not registered to operate an exchange, to swap crypto for cash, or to provide transfer services. A business that did those things without registration would be breaking the Act, so the narrow scope tells you what SunCash is permitted to offer.
The register doesn’t say which digital assets SunCash may hold, and SunCash hasn’t published a crypto custody product. Whether the registration supports its Sand Dollar wallet business or a future crypto service is not something we could confirm. Treat it as a regulatory permission, not a product you can sign up for.

If you want crypto, here’s the practical route
SunCash is useful around the edges. Pay a bill, top up a phone, or keep a Tier II Sand Dollar wallet linked to your bank. For the crypto itself, buy on an exchange with a Bahamian Visa or Mastercard debit card, paying the 1.5% Stamp duty (FX) A 1.5% government tax on converting Bahamian dollars into foreign currency, charged by your bank. Frequently asked questions
Can I buy Bitcoin at SunCash?
Not that we can confirm. SunCash’s website, checked on 22 October 2026, lists no crypto service, and its Securities Commission registration covers custody of digital assets only, not exchange. A 2020 announcement promised crypto purchases at SunCash locations, but we found no sign that it is running today.
Is SunCash licensed by the Securities Commission?
Yes, for one activity. Sun Island Transfers Ltd., trading as SunCash, is on the SCB’s DARE register (30 September 2026) as a digital asset business approved for custody of digital assets. It is also listed by the Central Bank as a Sand Dollar wallet provider.
Can I convert Sand Dollar to crypto with SunCash?
No. We found no Sand Dollar wallet provider, SunCash included, that converts Sand Dollar into crypto. Sand Dollar works only inside The Bahamas. The indirect route is a Tier II wallet linked to your bank account, then a card or wire purchase from that account.
What is the difference between SunCash and Cash N’ Go?
Both are Bahamian payments companies, both are Sand Dollar wallet providers and both hold an SCB registration for custody of digital assets only. Cash N’ Go belongs to the BAF Financial group and runs its main store on Rosetta Street. Neither publicly sells crypto.
